Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Hong Kong & Shenzhen ExplorationDay 1 Arrival in Shanghai

Upon arriving in Hong Kong (before 3 PM), our staff will meet you and assist with the ferry transfer from Sheung Wan to Shekou Cruise Center to enter China. After customs clearance, you'll be met by our team. If time permits (clearing customs by noon), the afternoon includes a visit to Huaqiangbei, renowned as Asia's largest electronics distribution hub and the "No.1 Electronic Capital of China." Explore this vast "Cyber World" filled with everything from components like chips and resistors to drones and robots. After dinner, experience Shenzhen's futuristic nightscape, marveling at the illuminated Ping An Finance Center, the circuit board-like glow of buildings, drone light shows, and the vibrant lights along Shennan Avenue, showcasing the city's cybernetic pulse.

Day 2: High-Speed Rail to Guilin's Landscapes

Following breakfast, board a high-speed train for a scenic 3.5-hour journey to Guilin, Guangxi. This city is famed for its dramatic karst landscape along the meandering Li River. You'll witness sights reminiscent of traditional ink paintings, including Yangshuo's peaks shrouded in mist and the iconic Elephant Trunk Hill. Experience the scenery depicted on China's 20-yuan banknote firsthand, potentially via a bamboo raft trip on the Yulong River (though Longji Terraces are visited later). See fishermen with cormorants against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty. Conclude the day exploring Guilin's lively night markets, sampling local delicacies.

Day 3: Guilin's Caves, Rivers & Relaxation

After breakfast, explore the Silver Cave scenic area, a remarkable karst cave system featuring stunning stalactites and stalagmites that resemble subterranean crystal palaces formed over millennia. Following lunch, enjoy a bamboo raft journey downstream. Glide on emerald waters surrounded by towering limestone peaks, observing how the ripples distort their reflections. Pass ancient stone bridges and watch egrets fly by as you immerse yourself in this living landscape painting. As evening approaches, wander through the bustling West Street in Yangshuo. Enjoy local street food and perhaps opt for a relaxing Chinese massage to unwind after a day surrounded by natural wonders.

Day 4: Dong Minority Culture & Evening Spectacle

Journey into the heartland of the Dong ethnic minority after breakfast. Visit their traditional villages, characterized by unique stilted wooden houses and impressive Drum Towers constructed with intricate joinery, reflecting centuries of architectural heritage. Witness the beauty of their homeland, often compared to the idyllic Peach Blossom Spring from classical poetry, with fishing boats on serene waters and blooming peach trees. Experience the local culture, possibly seeing Zhuang brocades or hearing lusheng pipe music. In the evening, prepare for "Eternal Love," a spectacular open-air performance combining traditional stories, like that of Third Sister Liu, with modern 3D technology projected onto the natural landscape, creating an unforgettable fusion of nature and art.

Day 5: Longji Rice Terraces Exploration

Dedicate the full day after breakfast to exploring the magnificent Longji Rice Terraces. Often described as nature's fingerprints etched onto the mountainsides, these terraces dramatically change appearance with the seasons, resembling emerald fish scales in spring and flowing golden waves in autumn. Observe the traditional stilted houses of the Yao people perched along the ridges. Experience the atmospheric beauty of the area, especially when mist rolls through the valleys, occasionally pierced by the sounds of Yao women's silver adornments. Witness how sunlight transforms the water-filled paddies into shimmering bronze, showcasing the harmonious interplay of earth, water, and light in this agricultural marvel.

Day 6: High-Speed Rail to Chongqing's Urban Maze

After breakfast, take a high-speed train (approximately 5 hours) to the unique metropolis of Chongqing. This "8D city" is known for its dramatic topography, with skyscrapers built on steep hillsides and the famous sight of subway trains passing directly through residential buildings. Upon arrival, settle in and prepare to experience the city's renowned culinary scene in the evening. Indulge in an authentic Chongqing hotpot, famous for its numbing-spicy "mala" flavor. As night descends, visit Hongyadong, a stunning complex of traditional-style buildings cascading down a cliffside, brightly lit with lanterns whose reflections dance on the Jialing River, creating a magical, almost surreal atmosphere.

Day 7: Chongqing Free Exploration

Today is dedicated to exploring the fascinating urban landscape of Chongqing at your own pace. Utilize the city's unique transportation options, such as river ferries and cable cars, to navigate its multi-layered environment. Discover hidden alleyways, bustling markets, modern architectural marvels, and historical sites. This free day allows you to delve deeper into the aspects of Chongqing that interest you most, whether it's soaking in the views from different vantage points, sampling more local snacks, visiting museums, or simply observing the dynamic flow of life in this extraordinary mountain city.

Day 8: Pandas & Ancient Engineering in Chengdu

Take a morning high-speed train (approx. 1.5 hours) to Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province. Your first stop is the famous Panda Base, home to China's beloved giant pandas. Observe these endearing black-and-white bears as they eat bamboo and play. Afterward, visit the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, a remarkable feat of ancient engineering dating back over 2,300 years to the Warring States period. Learn how this dam-less system, designed by Li Bing and his son, ingeniously controls water flow, preventing floods and irrigating the Chengdu Plain, earning it the name "Land of Abundance." Conclude your day with a Western-style dinner in downtown Chengdu.

Day 9: Stuning and Historial Mount Emei

Enjoy a full-day exploration of Mount Emei, one of China's Four Sacred Mountains of Buddhism and a significant site in Taoism. Revered since the Eastern Han Dynasty, it's listed as a Taoist "Grotto-Heaven Blessed Land." Discover its rich spiritual history, including Taoist relics like Tianzhu Peak and Yuhuang Terrace, and sites such as Chunyang Hall. Ascend towards the Golden Summit (3,077m), originally a Taoist site before becoming predominantly Buddhist, now famous for the Huazang Temple and a massive golden Samantabhadra statue. Appreciate the unique blend of Confucian, Buddhist, and Taoist influences that coexist on this sacred mountain, exploring both its famous landmarks and hidden spiritual treasures.

Day 10: Mysterious Sanxingdui Civilization

After breakfast, delve into the enigmatic Sanxingdui civilization (approx. 2800-1100 BCE), the archaeological site of the ancient Shu Kingdom near Guanghan. Marvel at the unique and somewhat bizarre bronze artifacts unearthed here, including striking masks with protruding eyes, tall standing figures, and intricate bronze trees, which differ significantly from contemporary Central Plains cultures. Learn about artifacts like the golden scepter and sun-shaped objects. Ponder the mysteries surrounding this civilization, such as its lack of a discovered writing system (only symbols exist) and its abrupt disappearance. Evidence like ivory and cowrie shells suggests connections to distant regions like the Indian Ocean. The ritualistic breaking and burying of artifacts in sacrificial pits adds to its allure as the "Ninth Wonder of Archaeology."
